Tata Steel’s Long Products Europe business was bought by Greybull Capital and relaunched to the world as British Steel. They are a world leader in the production of steel - producing over 2.8 million tonnes of it every year.

THE CHALLENGE

After rebranding to "British Steel", we were tasked to design and build an informative and engaging brochure style website, which adhered to a new set of brand guidelines. There was a large amounts of product information and content which would need to be included, so it was important that we could provide British Steel with a Content Management System which was easy to use, and they would be able to update the website without requiring extra development work in the future. Given the increase in mobile and tablet users, it was also important that the website was fully responsive and adapted perfectly to a variety of devices.

Setting goals is key.

We listened to the management team, about their wants and needs to understand their business and the direction of the project.

British Steel worked closely with the team at Moirae to tight timescales to launch British Steel. Moirae ran workshops with a cross-section of people at British Steel to create a user journey for the website navigation and identify key functionality. The team went on to design user-friendly pages with an optimised navigation to access core information in as few clicks as possible.

RESULTS

The response from stakeholders regarding the new and improved website has been overwhelmingly positive. It has seen a steady increase in visitors, month-on-month, and we continue to work with British Steel to develop their site as the brand and its needs evolve.

A big challenge for all of us was working with a new brand that was evolving and confidential. The brand continues to evolve, as does our website and we are now looking to develop the site further. Moirae gave great advice to get the best from our website - including guidance on SEO, navigation and design. On the back of their work to develop the website, Moirae also developed our new company intranet. The team worked hard to make sure we had both a website and intranet ready for our launch day.
